Expensify takes receipts three ways: photographed in the mobile app, forwarded by email, or uploaded as a file in the web app. Stephen Brown demonstrates each one, then opens all three captured receipts to show that Expensify has already read the merchant, date, and total off every one of them. From there you build a report and submit it for approval without typing any of it in.

0:00 The three capture methods
In this video I'm going to show you the three ways for capturing receipts in Expensify.
First is using the mobile app, which you open up, click the camera button, and take a picture of the receipt. Just that simple.
Next is forwarding receipts via email. This is done by sending an email with a receipt to receipts@expensify.com.
Finally, you can upload receipts as files into Expensify's web application. Simply find the file and upload it.
0:37 What Expensify reads automatically
In all cases Expensify will start extracting information from the receipt, so you don't have to do it manually.
Let's look at the receipt that was captured using the mobile app. As you'll see, once we open this up, the merchant, date and total have been pulled from the receipt automatically.
Now let's look at the email receipt. Again, when we open it up we see that the document was added, and the key information was also pulled automatically.
Finally we see the uploaded receipt has the merchant, date, total read from the receipt.
From here you can build reports and submit for approval.
